Gui Fei “Duchess” Oolong

USD $12.00USD $24.00

The “Other” bug-bitten oolong tea!

A truly yummy oolong that oozes the fragrance of sweet nectar.  This is a medium dark oolong with prominent notes of sweet nectar.   And the name?   “Duchess” implies a beautiful imperial lady.   This is an oolong that will give its northern cousin “The Oriental Beauty” a run for its money at a much more reasonable price point.

Gui Fei “Duchess”  Oolong is the result of the toughness of the Lugu tea farmers.    On September 21, 1999, Lugu Nantou is at the epicenter of a 7.3 magnitude earthquake.    The tea farmers were busy recusing and rebuilding their homes that the tea gardens were left unattended.    The result was the accidental attacked by the tiny leaf hoppers.    Instead of giving up the harvest completely, all of the farmers still harvested a late fall harvest and spend even more time in oxidizing and roasting.  The result?   Gui Fei Duchess was born.

Gui Fei Duchess Oolong is a great tea for aging, as well as for drinking cold.   The sweet fragrance will deepen as it cools.

Brewing Instruction: 3g (about 1 teaspoon) of tea per 1 cup (250ml) of hot boiling water.   Let brew for 3 minutes.  Strain & enjoy.    Subsequent brews will require longer and longer brewing time.

Alternatively, you can do a 1 second of the tea in hot boiling water to bloom the tea prior to brewing.

Storage Instruction:  Store in a tightly sealed bag or container away from moisture, light, or strong smell. Excellent oolong for aging.
